I went out on another Internet date yesterday. The lady was extremely pleasant but it only took me about thirty seconds to realize that she wasn’t my type. Judging by her reaction to me, similar thoughts were going through her mind.

The question is what to do in these situations. My immediate thought is to ‘get out of here’. I know it’s not going to work, she knows it’s not going to work and yet you have to sit around having polite conversation for an hour or so. After all, I’d driven 90 minutes to get to the meeting. And before that I’d put in the time drafting ‘nice and funny’ emails to her over a few weeks.

At least I had a pleasant stroll with her around Bristol harbour. She was a very nice person, kind and interesting. And I felt terribly guilty for wishing I were some place else.
